Birbiglia’s NYC show moved due to snow

A huge snowstorm struck the NE corridor the day after Christmas, crippling much of the Northeast coast from North Carolina to Maine. New York City and the surrounding burroughs saw as much as 15 inches of snow, shutting down much of the city temporarily.

Alas, one of the consequences is the postponement of Mike Birbiglia’s show tonight at Brooklyn’s Union Hall. Due to the inclement weather, and Birbiglia’s hesitation to venture out, it’s been rescheduled for this Wednesday, 12/29, at 8pm. All tickets will be honored for the show dubbed “An Evening of New Stories With Mike Birbiglia.”

Birbiglia tweeted the news to his followers, “Tonight’s Brooklyn show is being rescheduled to Wednesday night at 8pm. sorry. Was worried about my life.”

Mike Birbiglia prepares for book release, stand-up tour

Following his involvement with Just For Laughs Toronto, Mike Birbiglia is gearing up for fundraisers, a new book and “The Painfully True Stories” tour.

After an Aug. 2 performance of “Sleepwalk Unplugged” in Brooklyn, Birbiglia is holding a special fundraiser for the Gulf Coast in New York City on Aug. 4 and 5.

On Sept. 2, his new book, Sleepwalk With Me & Other Painfully True Stories, is in stores, and Mike heads out on his comedy tour including stops in Boston (Sept. 13), Philidelphia (Sept. 14), Washington, D.C. (Sept. 15), Chicago (Sept. 16), San Francisco (Sept. 19), L.A. (Sept. 21), Seattle (Sept. 22) and Portland (Sept. 23).

Following a week off, Birbiglia is also taking the stage in Atlanta (Nov. 4), Charlotte (Nov. 5) and Durham (Nov. 6).

Mike Birbiglia To Perform At Just For Laughs

The 2010 line up for the Toronto Festival portion of Just For Laughs has just been confirmed. Mike Birbiglia will be performing “My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend,” on Wednesday, July 7th at 9:30pm. The festival is scheduled to run July 6th-11th.

Wondering what is Just For Laughs? It’s the world’s largest and most prestigious comedy festival held every year in four cities: Montreal, Toronto, Chicago and Paris. The event has grown since its debut in 1983, representing 23 days of laughter, 1.5 million festival goers, more than 1500 artists in 12 countries and more than 1200 outdoor and indoor performances.

Anybody who’s anybody in the world of comedy attends the festival. Other comic stars appearing this year include Demetri Martin, Louis CK, Jerry Seinfeld, Brad Garrett, Gabriel Iglesias, Jim Breuer, Lewis Black, Wayne Brady, Aziz Ansari, Lavell Crawford, and many more.

Mike Birbiglia is heading out on the road this Fall, planning to tour mostly in the South and on the West Coast.

The funnyman is known for his “This American Life” show on Public Radio International, and he’s released three albums. His off-broadway one man show “Sleepwalk with Me” was a hit, and he’s a regular on “The Bob & Tom Show.”

He also writes a hilarious blog, “My Secret Public Journal.”
